All American Quart Pressure Cooker is mostly ideal for the serious canner but you can use it in any situation where a quality pressure cooker is needed.  The main reason that this device is so highly recommended for canning applications is its ability to produce the high heat needed to kill bacteria – a necessary function for canning applications.

All American Quart Pressure Cooker is cast from aluminum.  It uses very heavy screws to seal the lid to the pot.  Customers loved the fact that no rubber or plastic gaskets were needed (common on older models), so if this is important to you, take note.

The pressure gauge offers you a look at how things are progressing inside the cooker and there are three safety settings on the pressure regulator valve.

The All American Quart Pressure Cooker uses a 20-pound empty pot.  It makes sense that when full, it will be quite heavy.  If you are frail, arthritic, or just plain lazy, then you probably do not want a heavy stove top pressure cooker like this one.

To begin, many customers were taken by something that the manufacturer neglected to mention on the amazon product page – certainly – not that we could find.  Apparently, the first thing you see when you open the package is a warning similar to the following:

DO NOT USE ON GLASS, CERAMIC, OR FLAT TOP RANGES

Customers are (understandably) perturbed because they were not warned ahead of time.  Readers of our reviews do not have that problem.  You know up front what the score is – so do not fall into this trap that snared so many other disappointed customers.

Another warning we should offer can only be read between the lines, but let us make it plain for you.  Do not buy a repackaged product.  Customers have seen issues with damage to the pot – and even if repackaged does not mean “used” you should consider them the same, for your purposes.

Finally, and we do not really understand why, you cannot cook beans – and a few other things in this pot.  If you plan to use The All American Quart Pressure Cooker for canning alone, you are good to go.  If you plan to use it for cooking, you should do more legwork or buy another cooker.  We could not find a list of forbidden items, but some work on google may turn this up for you.

Any product that can survive over 1,000 reviews and still maintain a nearly five-star rating does not need anybody to extol its virtues.  It simply IS a great product.  The only question before you is if it is an applicable product for your needs.

The CC-001 Portable CanCooker is more of an outdoor steam cooker than a true pressure cooker, but it turns out to be one of the best tools you can own to cook healthy meals for lots of people.  Unlike a normal kitchen steam cooker, this outdoor job holds a LOT of food, and it seems to be a real crowd pleaser.  Let’s dig into this product a bit, to see if we can understand why.

Cleanup is dead easy.  Just heat about a gallon of water in your CC-001 Portable CanCooker with the lid clamped on, and let the water boil for about 10 minutes to remove any food stuck on the inside of the cooking chamber.  You are done!

You don’t have to worry about safety either.  The lid clamps down to prevent tip-overs and burns.  What is a camping trip without kids and pets running about?  Now you can prepare dinner for twenty, without worrying that somebody will get burned.

Cooking racks are available for The CC-001 Portable CanCooker although these are sold separately.  One customer mentioned that these might have been included in the original price because they are so practical and useful – and we agree.  For example, a rack placed on the bottom of the CanCooker will prevent your food from sticking (or burning) into the bottom of the cooker.  Now, that alone seems to be a good reason for ensuring that a paying customer has at least a single rack for their use whenever using the cooker.  We should also say the same about a temperature gauge.  This would just seem to us to be a natural safety tool when using a steam cooker.

Other than a minor complaint about the temperature gauge and the extra cost for the racking, this cooker really passes the customer test.  It survived 35 customer reviews, with a single complaint.  That’s 4.7 stars, out of five!

It has been noted, that too much of anything, is not necessarily a good thing; and so it is with computer systems.   There are so many variations from power to quality, that the variety of choice itself can be a big problem.   Sure, it is great to have many options, but the question becomes how to whittle them down from a daunting list of possibilities, to something from which you can make a final choice.

We hope that this short post will aid in that regard.   We promise to stick to suggestions here, with no technical jargon and the like.   For the technical, we will refer you to previous reviews that should help keep you clear of the shoals.

Which, Which, is Which?

Our first stop on our way to cyber sanity, tackles the question of whether you plan to use a computer system running Microsoft WindowsTM or a computer system or a MacintoshTM Computer.  This is a common question now for several decades.  Back then, the answer was more obvious.  If working with graphics, you needed a Mac, and for productivity type work, you wanted a Windows system.

There is still one thing that vastly separates the Mac and the Windows computer system – and that is cost.  Despite the years that the two operating systems have been in competition, Mac computer systems are still mainly more expensive than an equal windows computer system.  That said, Windows systems had been more susceptible to virus etc. than Mac systems, but now that security is built right into the processor hardware, the reliability of windows systems in this regard has improved considerably.  Of course, you should still use protection – no matter the computer system you choose.

A System, By Any Other Name…

Now that you have selected an operating system for your computing needs, there is the question of the type of computer system you will buy.  The choices just keep growing.  Desktop and laptop had the course nailed down until recently, but then upstarts like tablets, pads and even hybrids of these raided the game.  Now, deciding between these becomes more of a chore.

Laptops used to be the poor relation to desktop computers, but not anymore.  Today, you can find as much power in a laptop as a desktop – and at the same cost.  Today, a new laptop that won’t embarrass you can be found for around $400 dollars!  That’s amazing.

That left tablets and pads as the new poor relations, since you had to run programs on them as if they were big smart phones.  Windows8TM though, is changing that dynamic too, so that a tablet or pad can have every bit as much muscle as any other system - heck - maybe more.  This is mostly true only for the casual user though.  Power users will still want full control of the computer – so a laptop or desktop computer is the better choice for the techies.

Port?  What Port?

In today’s world of fast-moving data streams, how your computer is configured for ports is one of the most vital concerns we can think of.  It’s not enough to just think things out into tomorrow either.  Unless you plan to buy a new computer each year, you want a system to serve your needs both today – and tomorrow.

This means that you want your portage to be both fast and flexible.  There really is no going back where ports are concerned.  Used to be if you needed new capabilities, you could just buy an extension card and plug it onto a system bus, but no more.

For example, if you have only USB2.0 ports on your system, you are forever confined to them.  You can use USB2.0 equipment, but your system will be limited to USB2.0 speeds, and that’s just tragic – no foolin’.  Everything you do, from transferring files to watching video will be slower.  To do better, you will need a new computer system; with native USB3.0 ports installed.

Almost any laptop you buy will have traditional USB 2.0 ports on board, but watch for USB 3.0 ports – especially as the price falls.  Don’t fall in love with fast hard drives and ton’s of memory – all for $200 bucks - and forget to look at the future of your computer system.  OK?  ‘Nuff said.

Games Can Be Serious

Games are another consideration.  They use lots of memory, and it has to be true memory, not data streaming from your hard drive.  The technical reasons for all of this are tempting to delve into (really tempting) – but these would take us too far afield of our focus – so if you want to play games – that is the most powerful games – buy a system guaranteed to enable them.

By this, we mean do not buy a system guaranteed to “run games” – that means nothing.  Buy a system guaranteed to run “DoomTM” or whatever other game interests you.  That is the safest way to go – unless you really understand what you are doing – and few people do.

A Few Remaining Items

Just a few other things to mention:  Most every laptop today should come with Wi-Fi connectivity built-in, as well as Bluetooth capability and a webcam.  Strictly speaking, webcams aren’t a necessity.  People simply have not taken to video calling just yet, except in certain business applications.  However, in future, some killer app which needs a cam might come along – and as these do not seriously affect the price of the computer – make sure to get yourself one.

Customer Impressions

This item receives 3.7 out of five stars.  None of the complaints relate to the quality of the product, and none serve as a reason why you ought not to buy this nursery keepsake, if you fall in love with it.

One complaint focuses on the fact that the ink had to contact the baby, when promises the maker promised that this was would not be necessary.  That complaint is valid, but hardly renders the product useless, since the ink won’t last forever, the baby won’t mind an inked foot or paw for a time, and the ink is non-toxic in any case.

Other complaints focus on the fact that the ink dries out quickly, but customers that are more forgiving simply say that one should practice a time or two before taking the impressions, and that baby should be asleep when making the attempt – which just makes sense – doesn’t it?

3.7 stars out of five does not thrill us, but nevertheless, we recommend going ahead with this purchase if it interests you.  You can spend more on any number of alternatives, but for $24.00 this really is one of the most beautiful nursery keepsakes we could find.

This product also received only 3.7 stars out of five, and again we feel that it has been under rated.  Many customers simply did not seem to anticipate the difficulty involved in getting the perfect impression – and that assumes – that a perfect impression is necessary in the first place.

If you desire perfection, you will need two people to take the impression, since an impression in sand is not possible when baby is sleeping.  Also, do not expect to get it all done in one try.  If baby does not muck up the process, then you will – so be patient.

Some customers got a good print in two attempts.  One customer needed some thirty impressions to get something satisfactory, but as she put it, “It will all be worth it in the end when you have this wonderful keepsake,” and maybe that says it all in the end.

Battery use is 5.5 hours in practice, which is plenty actually, since the clock does not start counting until you disconnect the system from its charger.  Another goodie is that the battery is included with the purchase – which is not always the case.

You have 6GB of the very fastest memory on board, supported nearly a TB of hard drive space.  That’s plenty of room for storing whatever you want, and accessing it quickly when needed.

Finally, there is the portage.  You have one port of USB2 for current needs, but two ports of fast USB3 to address your needs now, and to enable access to speedy new computing technologies, as they emerge.

Buying electronics online should be scary – unless you are a techo-wiz who really understands how to assess such things.  That is what makes brand, reviews, and customer feedback so vitally important.

The deliveryman – tossing about such delicate packages - will be responsible for that much more damage and some complaints were about the Windows 8 operating system, which is NOT for everybody – just yet – but that’s hardly an actual failing of the system.

To begin, customers recommend using a mesh bag for clothing that has long sleeves, or long legs, and for items that get heavy when wet like jeans or sweaters.  That is because the powerful agitator in the washer side will tangle free-floating articles of clothing.  Mesh bags let the clothes be fully clean, while keeping them from becoming a Gordian knot in the process, protecting your delicate fabrics from stretching or tearing.

In other news, we hear a complaint about the impeller agitator causing clothing damage, but this single complaint is just that – a single complaint.  Nobody else seems even remotely concerned about it.  This might simply have been a damaged unit.
