Given the quality of this bike – the score is no surprise, and most of the issues are peeves of the parents, more than that of the child.

Of course, the fact that there is no kickstand bothers some customers – especially for a heavy bike such as this.

The child will need a period of adjustment to move from foot brakes to handle bar lever brakes – but I don’t believe too many growing boys will complain about that – especially when they get a look at this beauty.

Twist shifters, which can sometimes be difficult to manage for a young boy who is just moving into this class of bike, so dad should be prepared to make some time for coaching.  In addition, a seven-speed bike is darned fast – so you will want to go out with your boy a time or two to teach him the rules of the road.

The DeLonghi EC155 Espresso Maker is relatively small to take up little room on your kitchen counter, and it is very cleanly styled so that it will fit nicely with any decor.  The unit is very flexible, allowing you to choose to brew ground espresso or use E.S.E pods in its unique and patented dual filter holder.  Choose the method that produces a cup of espresso or cappuccino that best suits your particular taste.

The DeLonghi EC155 Espresso Maker serves up espresso or cappuccino at the perfect temperature controlled by two separate thermostats.  This redundancy helps to make sure that you get the same great cup of espresso every time.

If you prefer cappuccino to espresso, you will enjoy using the built-in swivel jet frothing wand, which customers say makes a thick creamy froth to top every cup of delicious cappuccino that you brew.  The one caveat is that the frothing wand is only 3 1/4 inches up from the counter top – not that this is a big deal.  Customers recommend simply buying a frothing cup about this height.

The self-priming operation is a valuable time saver that eliminates annoying start-up preparation.  The unit heats up FAST and has a removable water tank (with water level indicator) that permits 8 to 10 shots before you need to refill it.

What Customers are Saying

Because this unit is a hot seller, it offers more customer reviews so that you can make a better buying decision.  At $95.00 for such a highly rated espresso machine – you are already working in good price territory – so the question is – how well does it work?

The most consistent complaints for the DeLonghi EC155 Espresso Maker are the built-in tamper and the length of the frothing wand.  While most consumers prefer to have a longer wand than the one attached to this unit, the frothing wand will work fine if using a frothing cup of proper height.  That is not ideal – but does solve the problem according to some customers.

While the tamper is hardly a monumental problem – according to one customer the spoon that comes with the product makes a great tamper – so why not use it instead of the built-in tool.

Other complaints focused on the usual problems inherent in any coffee-making product.  Some customers will use the product wrong and blame the appliance (this typewriter can’t spell).  Others simply got a bad machine.  One customer complained that the unit was noisy – but we do not see this complaint consistently even among other dissatisfied customers.

Of some 2400 customer reviews, nearly 2000 of these are at three stars or better out of five stars possible.  If you can find an espresso maker that rates higher, you will have done well.  If you can find one at this price – we want to know about it.

*        The EC155 outperformed my Gaggia in a couple of ways.  First off, the heat time was about the same.  The cream on the EC155 outperformed my expensive Gaggia by a min of 4 to 1.

*        I have been extremely pleased with this espresso machine. I am not an expert; this is the first espresso machine I have used and after a month and a half I am still learning.  Overall, I have been very happy with the results from this machine.

*        This machine has the features of a more expensive machine at a lower price.  We have used this machine daily and we are happy with it.

In this case though, we seem on solid ground.  To see what we mean, let us look at the customer review mapping…

Here, we see that of 98 customer reviews, all but seven of these are at three stars or better, and on 15 of 98 are below four stars.  That’s pretty straight shooting.  The next place we turn is to the consistency of the reviews at or below two stars.  What caused these customers to complain, when so very many other customers are happy?

A bit of research turns up the answer.  There are two complaints.  A tiny few of them had to do with rain (or snow) making its way into the doghouse (many folks use them to house cats too).  The unit needs to be assembled – so if most people don’t see any problem in this area, we must at least consider that the problem might be in the assembly.  Faulty components might also be at fault – but with so many happy customers – there hardly seems cause to worry.

A more serious complaint – and common to most ALL of them – is that the dog and the house shown on page at amazon are both large – but according to the customers – the Petmate Indigo Dog House is actually medium sized.  Here it is in the customer’s own words…

“The dog breed and house size pictured at the $77.70 price are LARGE.  However, the doghouse advertised at the $77.70 price is a MEDIUM. I accidentally ordered a medium house and can bitterly accept that I didn't read the fine print.  However, I went back to select the "large" house the price jumped by $100.00!  That is misrepresentation.  Petmate should not be allowed to sell using these tactics on amazon. The correctly sized house should be next to the corresponding correct price.  Don't put up with sellers who try this crap!  Don't buy it!”

Now this customer is angry – and probably has a right to be.  However, we should note that the customer did ultimately like this product – so as long as you don’t expect to house your German Shepard or any similarly large dog – you should be on reasonably solid ground.
