Unique Baby Traveling Items to keep your baby happy

Traveling with baby takes planning – no doubt about it.   For some moms this is a daily occurrence and for others strictly a weekend affair, but in both cases it helps to know about some special items that can help the process to move more pleasantly, for mom – and for baby.

Our first suggestion for moms on the go – with baby in tow – is a method to keep the baby food fresh and warm.   To that end, we introduce you to the concept of a food thermos – just for baby.   We know – you never thought of that!   Well, we hear that all the time.   How much time does your busy day allow for contemplating these things?   Our guess is – not much.

Food

A food thermos is a great item to keep handy.  When traveling with baby, a food thermos will keep baby’s food fresh, warm, and ready for use when needed.  There are many examples but a quick suggestion is the Thermos Foogo Leak-Proof Stainless Steel Food Jar, 10 Ounce [http://amzn.to/1hcRuY0].

We chose this particular model because it will store up to 10 ounces of baby food and it has a nice wide opening so it is easy to get access to the food when you need to get it out of the bottle.   Many sizes and styles for this thermos are available.  The Thermos Foogo has “thermax”-insulated walls to keep contents warm (or cold) for up to 5 hours.  Additionally, it is made in a kid proof design that stands up to abuse.

The Thermos Foogo is dishwasher safe and made of BPA free materials that will stay free from condensation, sweating and molding – all prime concerns if you plan to feed the contents to your baby.   This particular thermos comes in blue with matching drink straw and matching leak proof Sippy cup.   Both baby and mom will love it.

Fun

A happy baby means a happy parent.  Consequently, how to keep your baby happy while traveling is always an important consideration.   Fortunately, this is easy to do, if one considers bringing along tools that will address the tantrums of a squalling child.

This should be a clue to mom to take along a few small toys to keep babies attention.  Do not just throw the kids favorite teddy into the stroller and consider yourself ready to go.   You get bored with the same old thing; your baby is as human as you are – so we detect a problem.

Take along several toys, so you have an arsenal to throw at the situation.   One great toy that will not take up much space is the Baby Einstein Take along Tunes [http://amzn.to/1f1tBUe].

This is a baby’s toy – no doubt about it, with lots of color and it is about as cute as baby toys get.  It has lights, and sound and a cute little caterpillar handle that smile at baby while it plays seven different tunes to ease baby’s mood

According to the parent reviews on-line at amazon, it works.  They rate it 4.5 stars, and darned if they don’t love it just about as much as baby.  Take it along on your next outing with your baby – and see if it does not turn the trick.

Now, we already mentioned that you need more than a single arrow in your quiver if you plan to drag your baby through the bustle and noise of the world and keep him or her calm for the duration.

To that end, let us introduce the fanciful Lamaze Play & Grow Freddie the Firefly Take along Toy [http://amzn.to/1lC5ApU], another colorful toy that babies are sure to love.  The knotted antenna is perfect for teething and the soft colorful body is full of exciting textures just waiting for baby’s discovery.

This product also gets high marks from parents.  Some were less than delighted with the stitching or whatever the pet peeve might have been, but when you have some 25 complaints below three stars out of 889 total customer reviews, you really have little about which to worry.

Function

Proper head and neck support is always of concern when traveling with a baby.  You will be out for hours, and if sitting in a chair without proper head support will hurt your powerful neck, just think of the damage to be done when pushing a baby through the streets, pulling them up stairs or popping them up over street curbs.

Using a support pillow is more than just a great idea; it is a parental responsibility!  The Baby Elephant Ears Head Support Pillow [http://amzn.to/1rfwkf4] makes a great solution to the problem.  It is cute, functional and gets the job done right.

This baby support pillow comes in Navy blue with white, large polka dots on it, and about twenty-five other designs, as well.  The head wings resemble elephant ears – hence the name – and represent the perfect design to offer spinal/neck alignment and comfort.

Take it with you wherever you go.  It will fit easily in a stroller; or you can use it in your car seat and on the changing table.  The Baby Elephant Ears pillow was developed to support the 0-2 year old cranial-spinal developmental stages.  However, there is probably no reason you should not use this support pillow for as long as it fits the child safely & securely.

The Elephant Ears pillow is made of 100% cotton and is machine washable.  Customers love this pillow and find it easy to use and to keep clean.  Just place it behind your baby’s neck to help prevent their necks from moving about too much during travel.

The Baby Elephant Ears Support Pillow makes a wonderful baby shower gift at any time of the year.  It is an inexpensive, functional and a positive influence on the baby’s health and development.  How can a new set of bloomers compete with that?

Conclusion:

Now, we should not need to mention (but we will) that these products all require parental supervision.  None of these tools ought to be particularly threatening, but we all live in a dangerous world, and if there is a way to get hurt with any toy, your baby will find it.  With proper supervision, the toys recommended here ought to be the safest thing going.

Rain Bird SST600I Simple Set Sprinkler System Timer

Rain Bird SST600I Simple Set 6-Station Indoor Automatic Sprinkler System Timer

The Rain Bird SST600I Sprinkler System Timer design intends to emphasize simplicity.  Consequently, it just might not be for everyone – which makes it the perfect product for one of our reviews.  We like to take on products that might lead to an unintended purchase due to complexity or confusion.

Actually, the simplicity of this product might itself cause confusion.  You will better understand this cryptic statement later.  For now, just understand that if you have a sunroom (or another area of your home) where you have houseplants with special watering needs, here is a grand alternative to toting about the water can.

Product Features

• Automatic indoor watering system timer with control for up to 6 zones
• Simple zone-by-zone setting allows you to customize watering schedules for different areas
• Easy-to-operate system lets you choose start time, watering duration, and days of week
• Large, easy-to-read screen and backlit buttons allow you to review settings at a glance
• Sealed case protects against moisture, insects, and grime; superior surge protection
• Simple and intuitive push button operation
• Built-in trouble shooting of valves and wiring
• Surge Protection protects sensitive circuitry and warns of problems.
• Permanent memory – no need for backup battery
• Color Coded wiring.

Automatic Rain Shut functionality means that you can install an automatic rain sensor to shut off timer during periods of rain, if you determine that you really need this capability.  Most people do not – as it does not rain every day – and when it does – it is not too much a burden just to turn off the sprinkler.  One-touch seasonal controls are extremely convenient, to quickly increase watering in hot, dry months and to reduce it in rainy periods.

Installing the Rain Bird SST600I is a snap.  You won’t even need a screwdriver.  Just strip the wires and push them into the color-coded terminals—and you are done.  Connecting zone wires, master valves, pump start relays, or even a rain sensor easily installs by use of these easy to use “push” terminals.

The Rain Bird SST600I is essentially an indoor timer.  However, it also is a great option for outdoor watering too.  It is all about your specific needs.  The Rain Bird SST600I Simple Set 6-Station Indoor Automatic Sprinkler System Timer is a super choice for those who have a small yard or an indoor garden with few zones.  But you might need more flexibility if you have a full lawn, back and front lawns, or even perhaps side yards to irrigate.

What Customers Say
Customers rate the Rain Bird SST600I very highly.  The product scores 4.1 out of 5 stars, which – out of 85 total customer reviews - is really rather impressive.

Unfortunately, a few customers apparently did not anticipate a particular limitation.  We want to tell you about this now.  Customers explain the issue as an inability to set the start times when watering multiple times a day.

To explain this simply, consider this:  When you select a watering cycle of "Twice a day", "Three times a day,” etc...  The Rain Bird SST600I automatically sets the subsequent start times on predefined intervals.

As an example, if you set the watering cycle start time for 5am and select “twice a day” the next watering to occur will happen at 11am (+6 hrs.).  According to the manual these default values cannot be changed.

Moreover, this, subsequent watering time must be on the same day, so that you cannot (for example) set up for 9pm and 3am because three am is the next day.  You can read the customer reviews for a better idea of the limitations here, but clearly, this is not a problem for most customers, who rated the Rain Bird SST600I very highly.

After reading most of the negative reviews, our impression was simply that these users bought a timer that was just not right for their needs.  A timer that simplifies programming will likely sacrifice some of the flexibility that come along with complexity.  Nevertheless, if there is confusion here – we want you to be aware of it.

The Rain Bird SST600I is inexpensive, easy to use, easy to install, and just right for simple watering needs.  You are not going to put your five-acre grounds on this timer – but it is perfect for a greenhouse, small garden, inside garden etc.
