For 55 customer reviews, this equates to 4 stars out of five. That does not sound too bad, but if we were to analyze these numbers, thing would break down something like this:
Thirteen of these customer reviews are below 3 stars. This puts fully 25% of the total reviews under water. Worse than this, the complaint for each one of these reviews is the same. Customers complain, using virtually the same wording, that the pictures taken with the Olympus SZ10 are grainy and somewhat blurry – except when taken in the auto mode.
Now, this is the opinion of the Olympus SZ10, not the Olympus SZ11, so we will have to extrapolate a bit. After all, the Olympus SZ11 is just too good a deal to pass up, and many complaints of bad pictures is too great a risk to ignore.
What is the solution? The answer is to buy this same camera – in as new a model as we can find. That would be the Olympus SZ30. There are other models, Olympus SZ15, Olympus SZ16 etc. but these will not do. You would agree with us if you made the comparisons, but we have already done this legwork for you. Why else do you read these reviews?
The Olympus SZ30 is essentially the same camera at the same price. The zoom is 24mm instead of 28mm, but are also getting 16 Mega-pixels instead of 14 Mega-pixels, and you cannot have everything. What you really want to hear – is if this camera produces better quality pictures than the Olympus SZ11.
Well, if the Olympus SZ10, Olympus SZ11, Olympus SZ11, Olympus SZ15 etc. does not take great pictures (same customer complaint) you will be happy to hear that – of the few complaints about the Olympus SZ30, most of them are complaints of a broken camera (it happens) and NONE of them mention bad picture quality at all.
